Despite the work that we've started on the Lowell already, today was the official kick-off. Earlier this morning, we had USCG on the boat to discuss the plans for all of the rebuilding, including power, electric, plumbing, safety and a number of other details. They'll be kept apprised of the changes being made and will occasionally stop in to inspect the work that's been completed, up until final inspection and recertification. I sound like a broken record, but this is pretty damn exciting!!! More soon....

Welcome Twin Disc MG - 5114 A! This is the gear (aka tranny) going into the Lowell. It came out of another similar boat in Montauk after only a few hundred hours. Soon to join the CAT 3406 that's currently being rebuilt by T&S Marine and should be arriving in about 2-3 weeks.

The Lowell was just hauled and is now being tucked away at Atlantic Service and Equipment ready for its full makeover. Steve's already been working on it, but now we prep for the repower and all of the other fun work ahead for the next few months. EXCITING!! See video on our Facebook page.

While we've been busy running the Young Brothers this season, the Lowell sits patiently waiting for us to get started working on it. Today, the fun begins. Steve's down there this morning grinding and sanding away much of the old gel coat as well as ripping apart the booth on the port side (which we'll likely replace further aft). Anything that doesn't need to be on the boat is coming off today. There's plenty to do, and the next 6 months will be exciting and busy as we rebuild and repower for 2015. We'll be sure to share updates and photos along the way.
Here are a few more pics worth sharing. The boat will look entirely different when we're done. The deckhouse will be extended back approx 5-6 feet. Lots to do.
Doesn't Steve look so little??? :)
