We had NRC first-timer Ari and his family and friends out with us this afternoon. Once again, we stuck with the bottom fishing and gave the porgies a try at the start of the trip. We made a few drifts and put a few dozen scup in the box before trying our hand at sea bass fishing. That proved a little bit more challenging, and while there was plenty of action, there weren’t many keepers in the mix. Still, a beautiful day on the water, so can’t really complain!
Anthony and Matt Ferraro returned for another trip with us today. Since the striped bass haven’t been cooperative, we stuck with the bottom fishing. We spent the first part of the trip catching porgies, and wrapped up with some sea bass fishing. The scup bite is definitely better than the sea bass, but we managed to send the boys home with a nice bunch of fish.

We had the pleasure of fishing with Danilo, his daughter, Amy, and a bunch of his buddies today. We stuck with the bottom fishing, and loaded the boat with over 100 scup and a handful of sea bass. Amy did a phenomenal job at the rail, baiting her own hooks and catching her own fish, all for the very first time having gone fishing. Impressive little girl!
We had the pleasure of fishing with Brian Mohrmann for his annual trip today. Since the striped bass bite hasn’t been stellar, we kept to bottom fishing with the group of 11. The gang kept the rods bent from start till stop. Tons of small fish in the mix, but they stayed at the rail and put together a nice catch for dinner.
