Tonight we sailed with Kevin Wish (Kevin, I spelled it right this time...no "e" in Wish...it's only taken me how many years to figure out!) and crew. This is the second trip this year with these guys and another great one. The bass fishing started off a little slow, but once the ebb got going, the eels did the magic and we had fish up to 35 lbs. These guys have been fishing with us for years and every trip is a great one!

Today we had the pleasure of sailing today with Bucky and crew once again for a full day trip. The bass fishing was a little bit of challenge. We tried really hard to get the bass to bite on bait, but it just wasn't happening. We finally gave in and pulled out the wire rods, which did the trick. Just wish we tried that a little earlier! We eventually put together a nice mixed bag of bass, bluefish, sea bass and porgies. Always a good time with these guys. Plenty of laughs to go around!

We had the pleasure of sailing with Scott Little again, along with buddies Ken and Rob. We headed out Saturday morning and went straight for the bass and bluefish (the guys wanted a few blues for the smoker). We had our first few fish on the chutes and shortly thereafter switched over to the eels, which also proved successful. A nice catch of bass and blues for the morning. At slack, we headed over to Frisbees where the action was consistent, with quite a few keepers in the mix. On the way back to the dock, the guys wanted to try for a few more bluefish. We stopped at the Pollack, put the chutes in, and, as luck would have it, hooked into two nice bass. Deciding that it was a great way to end the day, we tossed back what we didn't need and called it quits. A great day with Scott and crew again, with more than enough bass, bluefish and seabass to last them a while!

Today saw similar action to yesterday. I had tried to convince the group to move their trip to a later time so that we'd catch the late bite again. However, they had Labor Day party plans and wanted to get back to the dock a little earlier. It was a good trip, but we didn't see the same action with the bass as we did on Saturday evening. I think another hour would have done the trick.

Today we sailed for a full day starting at around 10:30 a.m. We fished the wire -- chutes and tubes -- and also the bait. We had action throughout the entire day, with an abundance of bluefish to start off with. We even found a lone, hungry sea bass which grabbed a parachute. However, during the late afternoon, the bass bite really turned on. With the parachutes in the water, we had two bass every pass. Since the crew had already kept a few bluefish which they planned to try on the smoker and therefore didn't intend to take their limit of bass, some of the catch was released back for another day. All in all, a great trip with fish up to 35 lbs.
