Once again, we had the pleasure of fishing with Kevin Wishe and crew. These guys make it out with us a few times a year and this was the first for the current season. Once again, not a disappointment. The guys prefer not to pull wire, so we headed out with the eels again and had the baits in just as the Flood got going. Immediately the rods were bent and the action continued for the next few hours. Every drift included the usual bluefish, but each drift also landed at least one bass and, in some cases, we had three on at a time. The fish were mixed in size. No slobs this time around (some of the bigger fish out there were actually caught on wire!), but still a very handsome catch for the group. Hope to get them out again later in the fall.

We sailed this morning with Paul and Lauren bass/fluke trip. We left the dock at around 6:30 and decided to try for a couple of bass to start. We fished with bait and had action immediately. Within a few minutes, we had three bass. The couple only wanted two bass, so after tossing the third back, we changed our tactics and headed to the south in search of some flatties. We started at Frisbees which didn’t prove to be very productive, so we ran a few more miles and stopped at Cartwright. We had some nice fluke up to around 6 pounds with a mix of seabass. All in all, a very good trip.

We fished with Anthony Cioku and crew today. As was the case with Saturday morning, the bass bite was definitely a challenge. We got out at around 6:00 and fished the remainder of the Ebb. The fishing was nothing like the Ebb just one night prior. Once again, the bluefish were in abundance. We bait fished until slack and then decided to spend a couple of hours fluking, which paid off with a few nice flatties. Once the Flood started, we switched back over to the bass. We started with the wire inshore but then quickly made our way back east and found some bass. It was a quick shot, though, and before we knew it, we were fighting the bluefish again! Although we didn't have as many bass as I would have liked, we were able to send the guys home with some meat. The bass are out there. Patience is a must!

This morning we fished with Rich, Ryan and Sandro. We started inshore and worked our way to the east. The bluefish were relentless and it made for quite a challenge with the bass. We fished the wire and bait (eels) and struggled to find the fish. We had constant action, but as soon as the bait, or parachutes, or tubes hit the water, we hooked into bluefish. I'm hoping we'll get these guys out again to show them what the bass fishing could really be like.

This afternoon we sailed with the Scott Taylor crew. We had a total of 16 guys, for Brian's bachelor party, and split the group up amongst the November Rain, the Alyssa Ann and the Seahorse. We fished the late afternoon/early evening and had the best bite on the Ebb. Two boats fished to the east with the bait and one stayed closer to the point and fished the wire. We all had slob bass, up to about 38 pounds. On the November Rain, we kept only three but tossed back approximately a dozen other cows. I can always appreciate a group that doesn't take more than it needs! All in all, an awesome trip with tons of laughs, captured in some of the photos posted in our gallery. Best of luck to the bride and groom. Looking forward to the next bachelor party with these guys. I'm told another wedding is already in the works!

Today, Alex Hecker fished with us for the second time, along with his friend and friend’s kids – 6 year old Emily and 4 year old Bennett. The ocean was much calmer but the fishing was not as consistent as yesterday. We trolled the umbrellas in the morning and had a few bluefish. Admittedly, we had a hard time getting the bass to chew at first. The guys didn’t give up, though, and it paid off. Since pulling wire wasn’t ideal for the kiddies, we decided to head to North Rip for an hour or so during slack to look for some flatties, which allowed the kids to get a little more involved. We had the rods bent immediately and kept the group busy with a fair share of fluke. Before heading back in, we decided to try the wire one last time, which rewarded us with one more nice looking fish for the box. Aside from a little rain, we had another great trip with Alex. He and his wife are expecting their third child in just a few weeks. Best of luck to them!

From what I heard, the guys who fished bait today did pretty well. I look forward to fishing the eels next time out.
