We had the pleasure of fishing with Tom Bender for the first of his two annual trips with us. We headed offshore today, but unfortunately with barely any wind, the conditions weren’t great for sharking. We had one shark swim past our slick shortly after we got lines in the water, but that was the only one we saw all day. We were treated to a nice whale show. There had to be at least a dozen of them swimming around the boat, which was fun to see. Disappointing, though, that the shark action wasn’t better. Without the wind, we had no drift. The 78 degree water didn’t help either, as sharks generally prefer it a little cooler. Oh well, the name of the game is fishing…not always catching. We’ll try our luck again with Tom next month.

Bill and the boys returned for their annual trip with us. We started out striped bass fishing, and the action was immediate. The guys landed there six slot striped bass with ease, and then we went bottom fishing, which also did not disappoint. The boys topped off their catch with a limit of sea bass and a few quality fluke. We’ll see them again next summer!
