We sailed today for the second annual trip with Alan, Aaron and Steve. The ocean was anything but calm this morning—more like wicked—but we slowly made our way out. With wind against tide, we weren't able to bait fish in the morning, so we started with the wire. We had a couple of bass pretty quickly along with a few bluefish. After a couple of hours and not much more excitement, we steamed off to do some bottom fishing and put together a nice catch of sea bass and scup. We headed back inshore for the Flood tide and put the eels in the water, which proved to be very successful. A few drifts produced a few more bass (not all of which we kept). Not too shabby! What started out as a pretty crappy day on the water turned out to be a pretty good day. Looking forward to seeing the guys next July.

We had Anna Karpinskaia out for the second time this season. Today's easterly wind made it a little challenging for sure. The group was tough and stuck with it all morning. We had some fluke as well about two dozen nice sea bass. All in all a good morning in some rough conditions.

It's a little bumpy out today but the fish are still chewing.
We had the pleasure of fishing with Michael Armilio and his crew again. They wanted to try to catch some sharks, so we headed offshore. The first hour or so was slow, then the group had some good action. We had two little pup makos, two blue sharks, and a little thresher cruise through the slick. Although we didn't bring back a monster, we still had a lot of fun.

Josh and Lauren made their annual trip with us this morning, along with their friends Ben and Robyn and their three boys. We started out in search of striped bass, which didn't take long. Three drifts and four bass later (3 of which we kept), the group had what they wanted. We decided to try some bottom fishing and after about 30 minutes, the gang had all the fish they wanted and called it a morning. Another great trip on the NOVEMBER RAIN! Hoping we'll see Josh and Lauren again this fall!!

And a very good morning to you!

We headed back out at around 5:00 pm with Michael Haustatter and crew for a twilight bass trip. Fortunately, the action didn't disappoint. It was a slow start, with a bass here and there. But once the sun set, the bite turned on and we had bent rods for the remainder of the trip. Of course, an occasional bluefish here and there. However, the guys ended up taking 6 bass (and a bluefish). Great trip with these first-timers. Hoping we'll see them again!
