The togs are finally chewin! Sailed this afternoon with Kevin Wish and the boys. Was a coin toss between blackfish and sea bass. Glad we chose the togs. Had a great afternoon on the water with a limit of blackfish. Plenty of shorts in the mix as well to keep the rods bent. Hoping to do it again tomorrow!

We had the pleasure of seeing Kevin Braun and the boys for their annual trip on the NOVEMBER RAIN today. The bass bite continued to be pretty much non-existent, though we did manage to find one lone striped bass swimming in a world of bluefish. Bottom fishing, however, was great, with a limit of sea bass and a few scup. A little lumpy today, but well worth making the trip. Tons of laughs with the guys, as usual. Looking forward to seeing them next year!

Now that's what I'm talking about. 60+ sea bass and counting.
Today was our annual trip with Paul "Nice Guy" Galeno & crew. We've known Paul since our Brooklyn days and it's always great spending time with him. The wind didn't let up all day, but we managed to fill the boat with sea bass and scup. A great day with a great group of guys. Need to plan next year's trip in July, when the slob bass are in abundance!! Already counting down the days!

Headed offshore on Monday with high hopes of hanging something large. Had a nice day on the water, though minus the something large. We ran about 20 miles S of the point. Set up in nice clean water, but didn't have too much life other than a pretty big blue shark -- maybe 250 or so -- which the guys fought for a while before we released. No big fish to weigh in, but still a day on the water. Beats being anywhere else!
Headed out with Ken and the boys for some bottom fishing today. Didn't work out as planned. On the way back to the dock....on the tow. A delightful afternoon ahead, for sure. Hope we can make it up to the guys soon.
10/11 UPDATE: We are back up and running! Our thanks to Atlantic Service and Equipment for their help while we were on the water yesterday and trying to get underway. Thanks to Montauk Marine Basin for having a starter!! And super thanks to Andy for coming down on a Sunday morning to help put us back together.

John Bono and crew sailed with us this afternoon for a bass/bottom trip. Rough conditions these past few days churned up the bottom and the sea bass fishing suffered as a result. However, the striped bass were plentiful. Had to fish through the bluefish, but the bass are out there. Not a bad catch!
