Once again we had the pleasure of sailing with Steve Armstrong and his daughter Melanie. We left the dock at 6:00 am and within short order we had our four bass. We continued to catch and release for the next couple of hours and then headed east for some bottom fishing. We sat on the anchor for the next few hours and took home about two dozen sea bass, also releasing just about as many. Another great trip for the father-daughter-duo! Looking forward to seeing them again next year!

This evening we sailed with Brian and his buddies for a two-boat bachelor party. We left the dock at around 4:00 and spent the next few hours fishing bait again at the Elbow. The bluefish were in abundance (as usual), but we had our fair share of bass. We kept only three and released another half dozen or so.

Today we fished with Mike Paci & crew. We started at the Elbow for the ebb and had a number of bass and bluefish. Did a little bottom fishing during slack and boxed a dozen or so sea bass, and then back to the point for the flood where we finished out the day with our limit. Mike will be back next weekend for another trip with Michelle, her father and perhaps a couple of others. Hope we have the same good fortune!

This morning we had first-timer Jon Allen fish with us, along with his parents Carol & Bob, from Pittsburgh. This was Jon’s first time in Montauk and only his parents’ third time fishing in the ocean, compared to Lake Erie where they spend most of their time on the water. Although the fish weren’t as big as they were on Saturday, we had an abundance of bass, tossing back more fish than we ended up keeping. Hoping we’ll be able to convince them to make another trip to Montauk next year!

Tonight we fished with Kevin Wishe & company. We had three newbies this time around and although I had great expectations for the flood tide given our luck that morning, things were a bit slower after the sun went down. Fortunately, we were able to land a few very nice-looking fish early on and sent the guys home with plenty of meat, including a few bluefish.

Today we had the pleasure of again sailing with Chris (aka Navy Diver), Scott, Steven, Doug and DP. This is the guys’ 6th trip with us and it was another great one. We fished a full day and had most of our fish in the morning, on the flood and with eels. We did a little bottom fishing during slack on the south side and then back over for a little more bass fishing in the early hours of the ebb. We boxed what we needed and were back at the dock by 2:30 pm with three fish weighing in at 35+ pounds.
