Spent the earlier part of today with Kevin Braun and the guys for their annual fall trip. Was hoping to get some togging in this morning before the weather moved in. Ran up towards RI and threw the hook there. Had a few fish pretty quickly, but the bite slowed down as the weather turned on. We ended up calling the trip early and heading back to the dock. Fortunately, the north wind and seas were behind us, but it was easily blowing a straight 25-30. Not the trip we hoped for. We'll have to make it up to them next summer.
Only snapped two quick pics—one at the start, as the rain started to fall, and the second on the way home with two of today's catch.
Had the pleasure of sailing with Kevin Wish and the boys again—Sean, John, Mike, Matt, George, first-timer Fred and the ever famous Grape Ape—for their second trip of the year. This time we let the bass be and instead put a limit of blackfish on the boat. First tog trip of the season for the RAIN and it did not disappoint! A great time with loads of laughs, as usual with these guys. Looking forward to next year!

Had the pleasure of fishing with Eric Chiarulli for his second trip this fall. I'll admit, the first trip produced some better bass fishing, but no complaints today. Decided to put a couple of striped bass on the boat early and then change tactics for some bottom fishing, which paid off nicely. The weather could have been a little calmer and warmer, but the crew still managed to put a number of fish in the box. And kudos to eleven year old Logan, who showed us all how to get it done! Until next season!

First bass was caught early in the trip and Logan fought it like a pro!
Today we had the Gene Nigro group out for day two. The guys had great action with bass and bluefish in the morning keeping three for dinner. After that we went bottom fishing keeping 45 sea bass to 4 pounds. Today was much nicer than its been the past few days. These guys are already planning for next fall.

After yesterday's blow, we were all hoping for calmer waters this morning. We got what we asked for—calmer waters —but only so very slightly. The wind was howling at 6 am and only three of our 8 guys decided to brave it. It was a long and rolly ride to the point and we were greeted by an abundance of bluefish and very picky striped bass. By late morning, we decided to try our luck bottom fishing, and it paid off with over two dozen sea bass up to around 4 lbs. Looking forward to getting the full crew out for Day 2 tomorrow!

Despite this morning's slop, a blinding sunrise graced us all.
Left the dock at 6 am with Jim Hope and crew for their annual trip with us. Strong winds and high seas made for a very bumpy ride out. Ultimately, we decided to scrap the trip. Always disappointing doing that, but my interest is in making sure the guys are safe and having a good time. A few other boats kept steaming and I hope they all have good trips. For Jim and gang, it's until next year! Was great seeing them anyway...even if just for a quick boat ride! Sorry it wasn't a better day, guys.
