We fished today with Frank and his crew. The bluefish were everywhere this morning which made the bass fishing challenging for us. We decided to do a little bottom fishing and found some nice sea bass as well as two 8-pound doormat fluke. A great day for everyone on board.

We went back out in the afternoon with Marian Rice and had our limit of bass within two hours of fishing. We then took a little ride and found some nice sea bass to round out our catch.
All in all, another great day on the water and on the NOVEMBER RAIN.

Sailed this morning with Anthony Licata and crew. We had some bluefish action right away, however, some of the crew wanted to fish calmer waters. We shifted gears and decided to bottom fish, which turned out to be a successful move with plenty of scup to bend the rods. A great day overall.

Spent the day offshore today with Capt. John and Tommy Bender & crew. We ran about 15 miles and stopped around some great wildlife -- whales, porpoises, birds, etc. First hook-up was shortly after 9 am -- a 50 lb mako, which we released. Had another slightly larger shortly after that, also released. Then quiet until around 12:00 pm when we hooked into what I'd estimate to be a 350 lb mako. The fish grabbed a bait, swam straight to the boat and then jumped 6-8 feet clearly out of the water. Awesome sight!! Tommy was on the rod and did a great job getting the fish to the boat. When it came up, about 30 feet from the boat, we got a closer look at it. An easy 350! Only problem was that it was wrapped up in the line. As Steve and John got the harpoon ready, I stayed with Tommy on the rod. The shark remained on the surface for just another minute before making a run for it. It ran and ran and ran.....and then our big shark was gone. Busted off. I won't repeat here what I said next, but it consisted of things like @#$%! and &*$%# and !!!!!!! and @#$@*&!!!! It was not pretty.
After I composed myself and we got the cockpit back together, we put the lines back in the water. Nothing but crickets for the rest of the afternoon. Sigh.... I will say, however, that the guys were awesome. I think I may have frightened them, but when I cooled off, they assured me that all was OK! Seriously, though, a great day on the water with a great group of guys. Looking forward to next year's trip...and getting that shark for them!

We sailed this afternoon with Alethea and family and decided to try for some bottom fishing. The weather was perfect and so was the fishing, with rods bent from start to finish. The gang went home with over 2 dozen sea bass up to 4 lbs. Today’s trip was a first for this group, and hopefully not the last! Good times!
