We sailed this morning with Ron Zenker and family, leaving the dock in pea soup fog, which always adds to the excitement! We took our time getting out and put the rods in when we got to the point. Fishing was a little slow, but we managed a couple of nice-looking bass for the box. It’s been a while since Ron has fished with us and it was great to have him back on the NOVEMBER RAIN. Hope we’ll see him again.

First-timers Iggy Alladeen and friends sailed with us this afternoon. This was a first fishing trip for some of the group, so we really wanted to make sure they had a good time…and understand the attraction to fishing! As with the morning, we decided to try our luck bottom fishing. The fish did not disappoint and we had consistent action with sea bass and scup from start to finish. A great afternoon!

Sailed with Tony Gibney & gang this morning. Wanted to keep the rods bent for the kids, so we hit the flats for scup and sea bass. The fishing did not disappoint, nor did the kids, who ruled the boat all afternoon. This is a first for Tony and family and we hope to see them on the NOVEMBER RAIN again.

Fished today with Nik Rastogi and crew. We left during slack tide and decided to do a little bottom fishing first. After catching plenty of sea bass and some fluke, we headed back to the lighthouse. The bass were waiting us. After keeping three 30-pound class fish and throwing one back, the group had all the fish they wanted so we headed home. All and all a great afternoon.

We had the pleasure of fishing with the Jonathan Greco family & friends this afternoon. We left the dock at around noon and decided to try first for the bass. Fishing with eels, we caught one right away. Not a slob by any means, but a fish for the box nonetheless. With a boat full of kids, we decided to try our luck bottom fishing again, following a successful morning, and am glad we did. The rods were bent all afternoon keeping the kids up and at the rail for the trip. Not a bad way to spend a summer afternoon!

Alex Hecker & crew joined us again this morning for a bass/bottom trip. We made a couple of quick drifts with the eels. However, after a quiet start, we decided to switch tactics and try bottom fishing so that the kids could have a little action. Good call, as the bottom fishing was phenomenal, with some jumbo sea bass and porgies in the mix. We had initially planned to try for striped bass again before heading in, but the bottom fishing kept us busy right til the end of the trip. No complaints from the gang, as they went home with plenty of food for lunch and dinner. Hoping to get Alex back out this fall!
